I'm Charles Roe, a researcher who specialises in the study of medieval Latin texts, and the way they can be used to enhance our understanding of history and literature.

I am currently working on a book on the relationship between secular poetry and religious writing in the work of Chaucer and his contemporaries. Alongside this, I maintain interests in the career of the medieval churchman and thinker Robert Grosseteste and other topics in religious history and intellectual culture.

On this site, you can find further details of my current projects, and a regularly updated list of my publications. My contact details are available here.
